The Kaltenhauser family is already spoiling you

It's crazy: The original tavern, which today's Hotel Kaltenhauser goes back to, was first mentioned in documents over 660 years ago, in 1363. More than half a millennium ago! Even then, tired travelers would stop here, refresh themselves and ask for a bed. Carrying on the legacy in exactly the same place today makes us happy. It feels nice to know that our family has been offering people a break here for decades and centuries, since 1723 to be precise. A place to rest, to stop for a drink and to sleep through the night.

A little journey through time

1363

First documented mention

The Lords of Hollersbach owned the simple inn, which was also called the “Leithaus” in Hollersbach. “Leithaus” or “verleitgeben” meant something like serving or pouring out.

1723

Sebastian Kaltenhauser

In 1723, Sebastian Kaltenhauser bought the tavern. With him, the name Kaltenhauser came to the inn.

1898

First modernization

We can reconstruct that in 1898 the open stove was removed from the utility kitchen and replaced by the first so-called economy stove. The house grew by one floor and an event hall.

1920

Electrical and sawmill

Today they no longer exist, but in 1920 a sawmill and an electrical plant were built next to the Kaltenhauser. This is where the electricity for the operation was generated.

1961

Siegfried and Loisi Kaltenhauser

Eva-Maria's grandparents, Siegfried and Loisi, took over the inn and expanded it with additional guest rooms, holiday apartments, an indoor pool and a sauna.

1983

Siegfried Jr. and Rudolfa Kaltenhauser

Eva-Maria's parents took over. They showed their daughter how to create a personal and loving atmosphere.

2010

Eva-Maria and Thomas Steinhauser

The well-traveled junior generation with hotel experience in the USA, Germany, Austria and Switzerland officially takes over the Hotel Kaltenhauser from their parents.

2023

The cozy village hotel

We get to the heart of who we are - the cozy village hotel. Right in the middle of the village square, a small, fine, family-run place where you can feel good. Our logo and website are going to the cosmetics salon and getting a makeover, and our guest rooms are getting a cool makeover. You can now get drinks and snacks from the self-service station as part of the all-inclusive package!
